Sony is well-known for its innovation in the photographic world, developing many "Japan's first" and "world's first" products. Whatever your video or photographic need, Sony has a camera and lens for everyone. From professional filmmakers, videographers, wildlife photographers to online creators and photography enthusiasts.

Founded in 1946 by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita, Sony started its life as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. (Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation). In 1958 Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. became the now worldwide known Sony Corporation. In 1982 Sony released its first 1/2-inch "Betacam" integrated camera/VTR designed for professional broadcasting, followed by the 8mm camcorder, the CCD-V8, launched in 1985. The now well-known digital single-lens camera α launched in 2006, followed by the introduction of Sony's popular mirrorless cameras.
