Polaroid Colour i-Type Film is an ASA 640 colour instant film, specifically designed to be used with the Polaroid i-Type cameras. It comes without the battery as i-Type cameras have a rechargeable battery and deliver high contrast with good saturation of the image. It develops within 10-15 minutes after exposure and has a 79 mm x 79 mm glossy image area to display the image within a white border.

How should the film be stored?

The unexposed film should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from high temperature and high humidity. The recommended temperature at which the film can be stored is 4-degree Celsius to 18-degree Celsius. Store the film in its original packaging and do not freeze. Allow the film to come to room temperature before using and keep the film in the shade while developing. Even after exposure, the film should be kept away from strong light and high temperatures to maintain the image quality.

How is ASA different from the ISO rating?

Both ASA and ISO are the measurements of the film speed but the ASA scale was created by the American Standards Association and is no longer widely used. The ISO is an arithmetic scale that was created by the International Organisation of Standardisation. ISO 640 is the same as ASA 640 which is a high speed of the film, meaning high sensitivity to light. Therefore, this ASA 640 film is ideal for shooting in low-light conditions.

How can the polaroid pictures be scanned?

The polaroid pictures can easily be scanned using either of the methods: flatbed scanning, sheetfed scanning, digital camera scanning, and app-based smartphone scanning. App-based scanning is the most convenient one and requires the least amount of specialised technology.

How does the temperature affect the image output?

The Polaroid film works best when shot at a moderate temperature of 13-degree Celsius to 28-degree Celsius. Shooting out of this temperature range can unpredictably affect the image output. Shooting in cold tends to produce an overexposed image with a green tint and low contrast. Shooting at a high temperature can make the image develop a yellow/red tint. Cool the film pack before shooting in the heat and allow it to develop in cooler surroundings. Similarly, allow the film to develop near moderate temperature when shooting in cold.
